Efficiency of Cyber-Therapy

As all we are familiar with the process of Covid-19, there should be something developed as distance for lots of branch in our lives. It is mostly because of the health issue. Beside the physical and physiological health; there is also mental health which should be integrated with a special care. To clarify, during coronavirus process most of people get tired of something psychologically. They need some therapy sessions to be treated however the process doesn't allow to have real meetings or if there would be real meetings then there might be lots of risks on the health of both. Therefore cyber therapy gains more importance during especially these times; however it is something really helpful to people in many approaches which should had been developed and became prevalent long time ago. Hence, we can say that with the breakout of Covid-19, there began a huge progress of switching therapy sessions to online delivery model.

Recently, with the return of many systems to online platforms, we see that the therapy field has moved to the online environment. Although the therapists have concerns that this cannot be as accurate as face-to-face therapy, research in the field of cyber consultancy has shown that, contrary to popular belief, online counseling can address a wide variety of topics and focuses more on emotion than face to face counseling. One of the studies carried out in this field proved that especially young people are more adapted to use the phone, therefore they express themselves more effectively in online services, especially when they use different nicknames. Providers have observed that their customers, with whom they previously communicated face to face, expressed themselves more easily, especially related issues such as sexual identity, self-harm, sexual problems, relationship problems and bereavement. For this reason, training on online consultancy should be taken and adaptation to this new situation should be provided. Providers should overcome their hesitation about online consulting and reach out to their customers in a sensible way. They should conduct research on text-based communication and educate themselves, and a client-centered, not therapist-centered, dialogue course should be established.

I have immeasurable respect for both Kyle and for Dr. Ramani for their incredible generosity.
